5/5 It is difficult to pick a list of the most costly movies to own and watch, and The Hollywood Report is no exception.
This list covers the most sought-after, and expensive, films on the planet, and there are plenty of contenders in this space.
We’ve rounded up the most pricey movies to see what’s in the can, and which you should buy if you want to see the movie you’re looking for.
(Note: these prices are for home entertainment only and include all of the usual caveats.)
Transformers: The Last Knight (2011) It’s hard to pick which Transformers movie is the most financially costly, but The Last Jedi is the clear favourite.
This movie was released a year before the release of the first Transformers film, and is a must-see if you’ve never seen it before.
With such an expensive sequel coming in 2016, it’s worth the wait for this one.
Terminator Genisys (2014) This is a sequel to a very popular sci-fi film that is also a very expensive movie to see.
The original Terminator had an R-rating back in 1984, and this film will probably be a huge hit on the big screen, too.
Deadpool (2016) It may not be the most technically challenging movie, but Deadpool is a highly-anticipated sequel that is set in the future, where humans are facing extinction.
If you’re a fan of the series, Deadpool is an absolute must-buy, especially if you’re an old fan of Deadpool.
The Martian (2016, USA) The Martian is a space opera set in a future Earth that has been devastated by the effects of a catastrophic asteroid impact.
While it is not as visually stunning as some of the other films on this list, it is certainly one of the more visually striking movies of the year.
Interstellar (2015) The third installment of the Star Trek franchise is set on Earth during the events of the original trilogy.
Although there are some minor spoilers, Interstellar is a great sequel to the beloved original series.
It is not the cheapest movie on this article, but it’s a great way to see it again.
What movies should you get?
If you want the most out of your money on a movie, then it’s wise to get a ticket to see The Last Guardian and Terminator Genys.
They’re both incredibly expensive, but they both have good reviews and are the biggest sellers on the list.
If your budget is tight, however, you may want to try the cheaper options listed above, such as Transformers: Age of Extinction and Deadpool 2.
However, if you like to save on your entertainment, or just have some money left over from a few nights out at the theatre, check out The Last Kingdom, a science fiction film set in space that is released in 2019 and has a pretty good chance of hitting the top spot.
If it doesn’t, it may not even be on the top five most expensive movie tickets on the market.
