Axios / BuzzFeed News A new theme parks project is taking shape in Florida, with the state looking to the nation’s second-largest state for a new entertainment facility to lure tourists and make a profit.
Humongus Entertainment Group is looking to build the $100-million theme park, located in Jupiter, on the banks of the Gulf of Mexico.
The park will feature a casino, a roller coaster and other attractions.
It will also offer a hotel, convention center and restaurants.
The company’s chairman and chief executive officer, Andrew Johnson, told Axios that it was a long-term project and he hoped to open by 2021.
The project has already drawn interest from several state officials and other investors.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Homeland Security are considering the project.
Humongs CEO said he had met with officials from the state and was hopeful that it would get a “major boost” in its bid to be considered a project.
