What will happen next season with Minnesota Vikings?
That remains to be seen.
There are two possibilities.
The team has a chance to get the job done or it can be a disappointment.
Here’s why the team could miss the playoffs: What’s happening this season.
The Vikings have had some success this season, but they haven’t been the same since Adrian Peterson returned from his ankle injury.
That will change with the return of the team’s starting quarterback.
Peterson will be the starting quarterback for the second straight year.
With that, the offense has to be the focus.
Peterson is the guy to be relied upon and the quarterback to make the team better, but the Vikings must win games.
They’ll have to be better on the offensive side of the ball.
Peterson has been the best player on the field.
He is completing 64.4 percent of his passes, averaging 4,872 yards, 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Peterson’s arm talent and ability to make accurate throws will be a big difference this season as the Vikings attempt to win a division title.
Minnesota’s offense also should be better when Teddy Bridgewater is in the lineup.
Bridgewater will be throwing the ball with better precision and accuracy.
Bridgewater’s ability to read defenses and throw with accuracy will be huge.
The quarterback has proven to be a great read-option option and should be the main focus of this offense.
Bridgewater has been a productive quarterback for Minnesota.
He threw 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2015.
Minnesota should have another quarterback with his arm talent.
Bridgewater is a talented passer and the offense should be capable of getting back to the playoffs with the quarterback that is at the helm.
The Minnesota Vikings defense was not great in 2015, but this year it should be much better.
They have an elite cornerback in Xavier Rhodes, a top-10 safety in Harrison Smith, a solid edge rusher in Kevin Williams and a strong cornerback in Eric Kendricks.
The secondary has three stars and one undrafted free agent in Josh Robinson.
The front seven has the talent to be one of the best in the league.
Kendricks has played in a Pro Bowl and has played well.
Robinson and Williams are two of the top free agents in the NFL and Kendricks is the only free agent on the Vikings defensive front.
The only other player in the Vikings’ defense is Xavier Rhodes.
The special teams.
The best special teams unit in the entire NFL has struggled in the last few seasons.
This season, the special teams have struggled to keep up with the run game and give the Vikings chances to win games, especially in the red zone.
They’ve allowed 7.6 yards per punt return, the fourth-worst mark in the NFC.
They also allow an average of 5.6 points per punt, the sixth-worst average.
The return game has struggled this season and the team has allowed a punt of 40 yards or more in just three games.
In addition, the Vikings have allowed an average 4.7 yards per kickoff return.
That’s second-worst in the AFC.
This is a unit that needs to step up to give the offense a boost in 2016.
If the special team can improve, the team should have a chance at winning a division.
The coaching staff.
With the departure of head coach Mike Zimmer and new head coach Tom Herman, the Minnesota Vikings have one of best coaching staffs in the country.
The new coaching staff has proven its worth over the years and has helped turn the Vikings into a Super Bowl contender.
Zimmer was the offensive coordinator under Zimmer in Green Bay and was the quarterback under Herman in Detroit.
Zimmer is a good communicator and has an understanding of the game.
Zimmer has won at least two playoff games with the Vikings, including a Super Sunday victory over the New Orleans Saints in the 2013 season opener.
Zimmer’s offense has improved greatly this season but the defense has struggled.
It allowed a league-low 4.8 yards per play last season, fifth-worst.
Zimmer will have to improve on the special and the defense, but that should be easy.
The city of Minneapolis is a great place to be.
They are a very loyal bunch.
This game is a must-win for the Vikings.
This city loves to cheer and it will show in the crowd this year.
Fans should be happy with the way this team is doing.
Minnesota has a great chance to win the NFC North title this season with Teddy Bridgewater in the starting role.
What to watch for in 2016: What happens in the playoffs?
If the Vikings get the division title, this is the week to get excited.
If they finish in the bottom half of the NFC, they will have a tough time in the division.
The Packers will play a tough divisional game against the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions.
The Cardinals will face a tough NFC West team and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Both teams will play in the wild card round. If
