Trump administration officials are expected to formally announce that cable news channels like CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and MSNBC will be allowed to offer a special presidential forum in the Oval Office.
The move is expected to take effect this week.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters that the decision will allow the networks to discuss the president’s views on national security, health care and more, and that the White House is committed to holding the Oval Off the same day the president is sworn in as president.
Sanders added that Trump and Vice President Mike Pence will participate in the event as part of a “private session,” but the White and Congressional leaders are still finalizing the details.
Sanders declined to discuss whether Trump would be able to attend the event, saying only that he is looking forward to it.
This is a great opportunity for President Trump and his team to have a very candid discussion with his supporters and our allies.
I hope the President and his staff will take advantage of this opportunity to show that they are a strong team that we should look to as we move forward with our agenda.
Clinton also wants to have the Oval Oasis to be able be used to host the annual Governors Ball and other events, as well as an annual Christmas party.
A spokesperson for the president told Politico that the president and Vice Presidents Biden and Trump will both attend the ball and will attend the party together.
